Austin Books & Comics Kicks Off Summer Events: Star Wars, Green Lantern, CARS 2 & Godzilla

Austin Books & Comics, Central Texas’s biggest and oldest comics and pop culture retailer, is proud to announce a premier series of special events through June and into early July.  Austin Books & Comics is located at 5002 North Lamar Boulevard.
 

Star Wars: The Old Republic- The Lost Suns Signing Event
Meet Series Writer Alexander Freed In-Store
Saturday, June 18,  4 pm - 6 pm
Have the first issue in the new Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ comic series signed by the author and Bioware senior creative writer, Alexander Freed! Special guest appearances from the 501^st Legion of Stormtroopers and R2-D2, courtesy of creator Jamie McShan. Published by Dark Horse Comics, Star Wars: The Old Republic - The Lost Suns is the third limited series based on the Star Wars: The Old Republic massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Meet DC Comics Artist Doug Mahnke In-Store
Saturday, June 25, 4 pm - 7 pm
Accomplished DC Comics artist Doug Mahnke will be at Austin Books & Comics on Saturday, June 25 to meet Green Lantern comic series fans and sign books.  Doug is the ongoing artist for DC's Green Lantern with DC Comics writer Geoff Johns, right at the beginning of the Blackest Night storyline. Doug is well-known as a regular Grant Morrison collaborator, plus worked on the critically acclaimed prestige one-shot Batman: The Man Who Laughs with writer Ed Brubaker.  Austin Books & Comics and Regal Gateway are the only locations in Austin where you will have a chance to meet and talk with Doug Mahnke, so mark your calendars now!  Participate in out Green Lantern costume contest and you have a chance to win a Regal Cinema family 4-pack.  Event partners include DC Comics, Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds, Regal Cinemas, Scare For a Cure and Time Warner Cable. Bring out the kids for this fun family event and author signing, with CARS giveaways and vroom vroom for everyone!  In celebration of the upcoming film release of CARS 2, we’re hosting a special event with Alan Porter, writer for Disney*Pixar's The World of CARSseries for BOOM! Austin Books & Comics is proud to kick of its new partnership and collaboration with the awesome Blue Starlite Drive-in Theatre by co-sponsoring their first-ever Godzilla FEST 2011 in June!  Join us for two nights and four films of non-stop Godzilla action. OnMonday, June 13, come out to the Blue Starlite Drive-in Theatre at 2326 E. Cesar Chavez for a double feature: Godzilla, King of the Monsters!
