Rated “T” for “Teen”
Uzumaki Naruto was a young shinobi (ninja) who lived in the shinobi Village of Konohagakure. He had an incorrigible knack for mischief, and he went on to become the world’s greatest ninja and the Hokage, leader of his village. But this is not Naruto's story. This is the story of Naruto's son, Boruto!
As Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Vol. 6 (entitled Karma – Chapters 20 to 23) opens, the Genin mission continues. Boruto, Uchiha Sarada, and Mitsuki are on a mission with Scientific Ninja Tool developer, the scientist, Dr. Tohno Katasuke, as well as Mugino and Sarutobi Konohamaru. The group runs into a conspiracy involving the mysterious Ohtsutuski-connected organization, Kara. Now, one of the adults is mortally wounded, and Boruto and company must return to Konohagakure with the intelligence they have obtained.
Their adversary, the former ninja turned Kara operative, Ao, won't let them get away. In fact, he plans on killing them all. Boruto is about to show friend and enemy something shocking that will leave everyone with questions.
THE LOWDOWN: The Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga is a continuation of Naruto with what seems like a younger version of Naruto. However, new Naruto, Boruto, is proving to be his own young man, and quite the young man he is. Boruto creative team, artist Mikio Ikemoto and script writer Ukyo Kodachi, are making us fall in love with the world's new #1 ninja. [Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto supervises this series.]
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Volume 6 may be the best volume yet of this new series. This is the first volume (I believe) to feature a battle in which the young students' lives are at stake. A death in the group would be just the thing to kick Boruto's narrative into a high gear. We can say, “Now, we have shonen ninja battle manga – for reals! So all Naruto fans can come back for something just like the original, something that is turning out to be quite a thrilling read.
I READS YOU RECOMMENDS: Fans of Naruto will want the Shonen Jump title, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
