Rated “T+” for “Older Teen”
The students of
Class 3-E are outcasts at
Kunugigaoka Junior High, and they are also trying to kill their teacher. They have the perfect excuse. Their teacher is the alien octopus that recently destroyed 70% of the moon. This alien traveled to Earth, where he became Class 3-E's teacher, “
Koro Sensei.” He promises to destroy the Earth after the 3-E students graduate. Thus, it is up to these students to kill their teacher in order to save the world. They are the “Assassination Classroom.”
Assassination Classroom, Vol. 17 (Chapters 143 to 151; entitled
Time for a Breakup) opens after Class 3-E discovers the true origin of Koro-Sensei. Now, some of the students have changed their mind about assassinating him. Still, half the class wants to complete its mission and kill him. So its time for Class 3-E versus itself. The kill-Koro-Sensei half of the class (“
Team Red”) versus the other half that does not want to kill him (“
Team Blue”). Then, it is time to infiltrate the International Space Station.
THE LOWDOWN: The central struggle of the Assassination Classroom manga is always the same – kill the teacher. Still, creator
Yusei Matsui is always up for a surprise or two, including presenting twisty origin stories.
Assassination Classroom Volume 17 could have presented a dramatic shift in the plot line, but the mission is alive. Matsui keeps the humor and keeps the characters intact, even if some missions and motivations change. Assassination Classroom remains funny and inventive with a story that keeps you chasing it. Will the students kill their teacher?
I READS YOU RECOMMENDS: Fans of inventive humor will want to be a student in Shonen Jump Advanced 's
Assassination Classroom.
