New ComicBokBin App Android Beta
By Hervé St-Louis
September 11, 2010 - 15:01
The full first release and final version 1.0 ComicBookBin app is almost ready to be distributed. Still some bug fixes to iron out, but it's as real as it gets. Meanwhile, please replace your old download of the app and install this one instead. Please uninstall the previous beta, if you already downloaded it before installing this latest batch.
If it's your first time downloading this app, please remember to enable the GPS satellite or the wireless network setting or the app won't start.
In this release, the interface has been cleaned up and the store locator works - but only for your current location.
We're completely removing the carousel view for this release, as we did in our first Palm webOS release so we can rework it from scratch and make it sexy. So you'll see it back only in 1.5.
The convention calendar lists all recent conventions, but you can't save them to your Gmail calendar just yet.
The app is unsigned, so users must have the right privileges to install unsigned Android apps on their devices.
We ask users who download this app to understand that it is a beta version. There should be no risk or lost of data created by the app, yet, if users prefer waiting for a completed and not buggy app, they may want to skip these beta releases which are meant for adventurous and advanced users . Coolstreak Cartoons Inc, the parent company of The Comic Book Bin takes no responsibility in any damages or loss encountered by users downloading and using the ComicBookBin Beta for Android. This beta is offered as a courtesy only.
The app requires a few things.
1-Your location - That's for the store locator.
2-Full network communications access - That's to access our articles.
3-Your personal information - That's so we can use your Gmail calendar and send email from the the convention calendar to convention organizers.
4-Services that cost you money - That's if you use a phone number to contact a comic store or a convention organizer listed in the store locator or the convention calendar, depending on your phone plan or making a long distance phone call, it may cost you money.
Sorry about the legalese language, but you know why we have to put this in writing. At the Bin we want to be as transparent as possible and we do know that those Android messages about what apps can do can be scary sometimes if you don't understand why the warnings are for.
Thanks for downloading this app. Please let us know if you like it.
