Amazing Fantasy #4

Being a freshman in high school is bad enough -- now Marvel's newest hero has to survive her first week of training at her new after-school "job" with a shadowy organization.

After all the excitement of last month's issue, this was much more of a reflective retrospective affair. It was still interesting though, as we get to see Anya really trying to come to terms with the whole situation she has found herself in. The narration was a good insight for what she was thinking, as she was talking. So of the dialogue was a little clunky, but Avery did a good job balancing most things out and had some nice touches within the story.

One of the things that Cruz does real nicely is the affect of speed within his work. This makes the action seem snappier and add this to how he morphs a jump, makes the scenes very enjoyable. When Anya was in Webcorp waiting outside the Inquiry, the paintings on the wall were a slick addition. Anya's tattoo thingie looked crazy; it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.
