Kaldur, the former Aqualad, Young Justice member and double-agent now working for his father, leads an attack team of villains, which includes the undercover Artemis, to Mount Justice where they plan on capturing more Young Justice members and blow up the place. While this is just a ploy to prove that Kaldur is really a villain and for him to join the light, Wally West, former Kid-Flash suspects that there is more to Kaldur and that he may really be helping the bad guys. Can Nightwing convince him otherwise?

I felt that in this episode, the show’s creators were trying to put the genie back in the lamp by making a play about Kaldur and how maybe, he really is a villain. It didn’t really work for me though. I don’t like how they play both sides after killing the big reveal about Kaldur a few episodes ago. I had other problems with this episode too, unrelated to the intense action and the well choreographed fight scenes.  Artemis’ new cover as Tigress is not really convincing. In comics, that’s the exact name her mother, now a paraplegic in the show had. It’s not clear whether her mother was ever called Tigress in the cartoon’s continuity. If you watch closely, towards the end of the episode, when Kaldur is talking to Tigress, there is a gross animation error where her hair are coloured blond instead of black, as she has in her new undercover identity. To some extent, it feels intentional. One thing I like about using the name Tigress in Young Justice is that it was also her name in the comics at some point in time and that it creates a closer bound with Cheshire, her older sister, who also has a cat theme as her villainous identity.

Not much progress was seen in this episode compared to previous ones. What I’m hoping next week’s episode do is continue the story of the missing Justice Leaguers travelling to another planet to figure out what happened to them while they were brainwashed five years ago. It’s been a while since that story got a follow up.

Rating: 8 /10
