Young Justice Season 2 Episode 17 – A rescue Operation

The Runaway meta-humans activated by The Reach are prompted by Lex Luthor to rescue the Young Justice team held captive by the aliens. But what is Lex Luthor’s real plan for the Runaways and how does Arsenal’s continuing activity affects everything?
With but a few episodes left before the series is wrapped up, many of the subplots are being resolved. With Gordon Godfrey turning against The Reach publicly, I’m starting to wonder if the Light has not been shopping around for alien race after alien race to push the Justice League to the edge and eliminate one another. It sure seems this way. The Reach has lost over 60% of its hidden fleet in the attack by Warworld. The Reach itself was responsible for the eviction of the Krolateans earlier in the season. Now, it seems that the Light is in league with Darkseid and his forces from Apocalypse. If there were a season three to this series, I’m pretty sure that this is where the plot would go.
I like how the Runaway Super Friends are far more interesting than I would have thought them to be. Each of them could support a series like Static Shock. I would not mind seeing a spin off series with them and Arsenal as their leader. He has the right angst but was an effective combat leader during the attack against Black Beetle. Arsenal has now outshined Red Arrow, his clone, whom we see little of these days. I’m hoping he’ll be back before the end of the season.
I like how both Miss Martian and Nightwing had a resolution to their crappy performance this season. Here are two more plot points to check off the list. I’m hoping that the last three episodes will be more than more clean up and wrap up to the entire series because beyond the trial of the Justice League, there is little left to fix.
