X-Men #3

The X-Men revive Dracula by putting back his severed head on his body, in hopes that the lord of vampires will stop his son and a horde of vampires from attacking San Francisco. As he walks away freely from the X-Men’s island, can the heroes trust their old foe, or is it too late to stop vampires from infecting Wolverine and Jubilee?

I have issues with the logic behind this story. So the son of a major villain threatens everything. To deal with him, you revive his father who is even more badass and hope all will be well? The best lines were of course those where Dracula makes a pass at the White Queen. Yep, we know who he’s going to bite next. This revived series is an easy jumping point for people that have been confused with the world of the X-Men. I’ll review the first two issues when I have more time. So far, it’s interesting enough and a fresh canvas. That’s one thing the X-Men needed.

I like Paco Medina’s work here, although his inker Juan Vlasco is too rough on him. He should polish and round the work instead of leaving so many dirty lines that just get in the way. Medina is of course a good storyteller and he knows how to portray characters in a grandiose way. I’d like to see him take on Magneto one day.
