The
series we thought we’d never see concludes, in as satisfying a manner as we
might expect. Well, almost. The epilogue on the last page seems out of place
and hokey, but I don’t consider myself romantic, so feel free to disagree.
Wonder Woman is returned to Themiscyra, leaving Conan to face the destruction of Shamar by himself. The Corvidae have a score to settle, and don’t care who is caught in the crossfire. But like most super-heroes, Wonder Woman isn’t likely to stay gone – not when thousands of innocents could be doomed. She returns to Shamar in to time to lend a much needed assistance in battle.
The final chapter lays to rest a handful of concerns – Diana’s lasso, Conan’s childhood crush, and the fates of supporting players who take on a greater importance in the battle of good vs. evil.
Overall, the series wraps up nicely, though it’s been somewhat of a slow build, if memory serves. Perhaps it could have been condensed some, but overall it has remained true to both characters – Conan of Cimmeria and Diana of Themiscyra. Fans of either should be happy with the end results.
