Wonder Woman #15

Wonder Woman is in a mental hospital having lost Themyscira. Her friends are hiding around the world, trying to outsmart the villains chasing them. They want Wonder Woman back and they will stop at nothing to get her.
This is another impressive issue of Wonder Woman making her series one of the best of those that I read since DC’s Rebirth. I like crime noir, thriller vibe in this issue which focuses not on the great feats of Wonder Woman but on the small stuff, like her tile covered room. What I like about this series so far is how the flashbacks and the present day stories all mesh into one gigantic narrative. It is a bit complex to remember all the parts at time, but it is a very enjoyable series.
I like the tile motif that Liam Sharp used for this issue. It allows the various vignettes that make Wonder Woman’s life come around while symbolizing her current detention in a psychiatric hospital under a cover name. Sharp mixes a lot of elements, including shots taken from Nicola Scott. In scenes where the art needed to be clean like with Diana Prince, Sharp did that. But with other scenes like the runaways Steve Trevor and Etta Candy, the mood was just right. Dark, and gloomy.
