The standoff is at the highest point where the blame between the different actors takes place and the denouement is on the way. Who will survive to see the next issue?

It was a difficult issue to read as even though I was familiar with some of the conflicts, the wants and the conflicts between characters became blurry for me. The two sets of characters, the Americans and the Middle East people are at the climax of their confrontations and they finally will meet and conclude this sordid tale.

My questions for Tom King were about the authenticity of the dialogue and conflict he portrayed. How real was the mise en scène with the Iraqis? And what about the internal politics of the Americans?

The issue was entertaining but hard to relate to if you have not read all of the issues before. Not much progressed or changed with the last issue. It’s just a quick decent into action.

Mitch Gerads continues to shine this issue. This work will be remembered as one of his most important contribution to comics. I like his nine panel grid. Besides Keith Giffen, this classic page layout is not used as much as before. Yet it has always been one of the most effective storytelling device in comics.

Rating: 9 /10
