Scooby Apocalypse #9

Scooby Doo and the gang keep finding motels, homes, stores with ample amount of food and supplies. While they happily stock up every time, where are the monsters who threatened them in the past? Elsewhere, Scrappy Doo is worried about how long he will be able to remain sane and lea d his pack of dogs.
Finally, this series seems to be moving somewhere. It is still very slow but Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis are introducing a threat that will shake things next issue (one hopes). One thing that would make this series better is if the meddling kids solving something, anything at the end of the issues was incorporated in the stories. It seems like the gang are just drifting and arguing non-stop with one another. Frankly, that’s just boring.
I really like the change of art with Ron Wagner. Wagner’s work looks like a classic comic by Jim Aparo. It’s just solid storytelling and cartoony art from a bygone era. It actually works well here and if we are going to get replacements for Howard Porter, Wagner is just right for this comic, somehow!
