Luffy’s battle with the tyrant Eneru reaches a thunderous crescendo, and the fate of Skypiea is at last decided. Fortunately for Luffy, his rubber powers allow him to match up to Eneru’s lightning quite nicely, pitting the two on an equal setting.

The set continues where the last one left off. The Straw Hats have been dismantled for the most part by Eneru and Nami has seeming defected. Luffy is nowhere to be found, leaving Usopp and Sanji to come to Nami’s rescue. Though strong in their own right, the pair are no match for Eneru’s powers and are easily dispatched.

In villainous fashion, Eneru reveals he plans to his use ship to lay waste to Skypiea with the inhabitants still on it. However, not even a mad god can keep Luffy down, and the wily captain confronts him in one of the most entertaining fights the series has produced. Eneru show’s that he is not a one trick pony, managing to come up with an effective counter to Luffy’s gung-ho attack by weighing him down with a humongous golden ball.

Still, not even a giant golden ball can keep Luffy down, and the fight once again commences, taking to the sky while all of Skypiea watches with bated breath.

The Skypiea storyline, though a typical One Piece storyline was a worthwhile adventure. There was a hearty mix of comedy and action with mature themes spliced in for emotional impact. Eiichiro Oda’s over-the-top creative genius is on full display here, spawning characters with wings, floating islands, and lightning gods. It’s a wonder that the man can still churn out fantastical ideas when other series struggle in this area.

Keeping in line with the previous sets, the only extras to be found here are a marathon feature that cuts out the openings, and some trailers promoting Funimation’s upcoming releases.

The English release of One Piece has reached 195 episodes to date and there is no lack of creativity to be found. The Straw Hat crew’s latest adventure was among their most explosive to date and opens the doors for more wild action to follow. When the series follows closely to the source material, it is among the best anime around and this set is no different.
