Once
upon a time, Dick Grayson abandoned his Nightwing identity and became an elite
agent for a super-secret counter-intelligence group known as Spyral. But that
was during the mercifully brief era of the New 52, which didn’t work out so
well for DC Comics. So why on earth would they choose to revisit that failure?
Nightwing is in Palermo, teamed with the Huntress in talking down Grayson’s former mentor in Spyral, an agent named Tiger. But fortunately, Huntress has support of her own, in the form of the some-day-we’re-gonna-be-super-heroes students of St. Hadrians.
What does it say about this story when I’m more interested in what’s going on back in Bludhaven. Dick’s former girlfriend Shawn has reunited with her one-time partner in crime to engage in a little social justice vandalism (spare me!!), while another of their friends goes undercover at local casino – the SAME casino where Dick Grayson is supposed to be working.
The whole story reads like a story originally intended for Grayson, but the when the plug got pulled on that book, the unused script was retasked for publication at a later date. Not a high-point for any comic book.
