My Girlfriend’s a Geek Volume 3

Taiga’s love for Yuijo has no bounds. On the other hand, her unpredictability and enthusiasm also terrifies him to no end; not because she’s violent or unhinged, but rather her extreme love of all things nerdy tends to demand his participation, willing or not.
When Taiga receives a text from Yuiko declaring she has a new girlfriend, he is of course disturbed, what with her being his girlfriend. Fortunately, it’s just wishful thinking on Yuiko’s part, as she is just being her normal eccentric self. This leads into Taiga landing a job tutoring an eighth grader while at the same time worrying what Yuiko’s reaction would be if she were to learn about the child. It may all sound ridiculous, but given Yuiko’s antics, one would have to believe Taiga’s concerns are well founded. To this end, he pleads with everyone not to tell Yuiko of his new job.
In the meantime, Christmas is on the way and it’s the first holiday Taiga and Yuiko are spending together as a couple. As per usual, Yuiko’s idea of Christmas differs from others, as she suggests dressing in a bevy of arousing costumes to celebrate the occasion. Needless to say Taiga’s less than thrilled about the idea, especially when he learns of the outrageous costume Yuiko has planned for him.
My Girlfriend’s a Geek walks a fine line between fun and absurd, but for the most part it leans more toward the former, with enthusiastic characters and humorous predicaments that mirror the real world of otaku. Readers will no doubt find a little bit of Yuiko in themselves with her assorted activities that rely on geek culture.
As a bonus, the volume includes a chapter of one of Yuiko’s favorite manga. It’s a fun excursion from the main title and worth reading if only to understand Yuiko better.
