Who is Inukai?  Believing that rapid modernization threatens the city of Nekota, Inukai has proclaimed himself an “agent of justice” and has stood up to oppose that progress.  Inukai and his team of vigilantes, known as Grasshopper, protect Nekota’s citizens from a rising wave of crime and also from the machinations of greedy businessmen.  But is Inukai a devil in disguise?  Blessed (or cursed) with the ability to make people say out loud what he is thinking, Ando may be the only person who can stop Inukai

As Maoh: Juvenile Remix, Vol. 6 begins, the city of Nekota is holding its collective breath for the Grasshopper Action Meeting, the event that promises to change the city.  Ando believes that this sure-to-be large public gathering will be the perfect place from which to use his powers to stop Inukai.  However, Ando must survive a city-spanning battle with the most dangerous person he has ever faced – a man he knows only as “the bartender.”  It’s a life or death battle.

THE LOWDOWN:  Like 20th Century Boys and Ikigami: The Ultimate Limit, Maoh: Juvenile Remix is steeped in conspiracies and focuses on characters that are both ordinary and extraordinary.  It is a science fiction, crime, and political thriller with social commentary that is relevant to our times.  I imagine that not a lot of comics readers in North America know about Maoh.  They should.  It is an intriguing concept that, in turn, is an excellent read.  It is a shonen manga directed at teen readers, but has an edginess that moves it into the adult area.  Think Akira-lite; Maoh is explosive and ready to blow your mind.

POSSIBLE AUDIENCE:  Readers who like political action with a touch of sci-fi will enjoy Maoh: Juvenile Remix.
