X-O Manowar #4
"The best issue of
X-O Manowar yet
(and that's saying a great deal since every issue has been outstanding)
is upon us. Master scribe Robert Venditti ups the ante by bringing Aric
fully into contemporary times while revealing more about the inner
workings of The Vine's religious vs military power struggle, as well as
their designs on the Earth. Some great action coupled with some
intriguing new developments and insight into Venditti's long term plans
for not only
X-O Manowar, but perhaps the Valiant Universe itself make
X-O Manowar #4 the issue that Valiant fans simply can't miss."

FAME: Katy Perry
"Bluewater Productions'
FAME: Katy Perry
does a great job of covering all the major highlights of Katy's rise to
fame. Die hard Katy fans might not find anything new here, but this
alt-rock fan did learn something. I didn't know much about Katy beyond
the fact that I actually like her song "Hot and Cold" even though it's
not anything like the music I listen to, and that her ex, Russell Brand,
is an idiot... All in all,
FAME: Katy Perry was quite informative."

Becky Cloonan's The Mire
"Sharp, short, and beautiful,
The Mire
is another excellent example of why Cloonan is one of the best
sequential artists in the business. Her work here, which brings to life a
medieval setting that appears Celtic or Norse in nature and culture, is
absolutely beautiful. Her recreation of the medieval encampment the day
before a violent battle, not unlike one that I imagine would display
all the barbarity of one of the battles as shown in the film
Braveheart,
is flawless and astounding in its detail. Each of the character's dress
and the surrounding environment which Aiden moves through, which
includes the haunted swamp and the decrepit castle, are also gloriously
detailed and beautiful. The ghostly happenings that highlight the story
are also sublimely frightening and glorious in their presentation and
detail."
