The first storyline since the reboot of this series ends as Vandal Savage tries to kill Wildcat’s son. Savage wants to eliminate all of the legacies of the Justice Society to stop them from opposing his plans. Will he succeed in completing his decimation or will the JSA stand up to him and resist?
The first storyline of this new series ends with a few more additions in the ranks of the JSA with some to come by later. The story and its pace were enjoyable but I have to question why did this series have to start with a reboot? It still doesn’t make sense. Savage motivations while reasonable, destroy all of your opponents’ descendants, are ultimately dumb. As pointed out within the series itself, the legacies are not all blood related. And if Savage wanted to eliminate all opponents, why not eliminate all super heroes? In the end, there are more useless legacy characters which will make good fodder the next time DC Comics has one of those crisis.
Like I wrote before, Eaglesham has a classic look to his work which makes it look right for a series like the Justice Society. He fares well in the action scenes too. The quality of his work reminds me of Rags Morales but with better storytelling skills.
7/10
