This story continues the arc set in the future where all super heroes and villains have been rendered powerless and are held in captivity by the Nazi Fourth Reich. Having plotted their escape for 20 years, the heroes wage a losing war against their captors trying to depower Obsidian, the power source used by the Nazis to depower the heroes. But how many of the heroes will make it to the finish line?

This issue continues a great storyline that should be resolved next issue, unfortunately. As much as it entertained me and seeing all these heroes die, we all know it will be resolved cleanly next issue and that all will revert to normal. I even got a good idea of who these narrated memoir from Mr Terrific are intended to reach.  One has to ask why exhilarating stories like this one always have to exist as alternate future instead of the real deal?

Merino continues to draw great super heroes here and seems quite adept at drawing them when they are older. The cover is one of those where what is drawn doesn’t happen at all inside but it’s still a good action pack story.

Rating: 9 /10
