Justice League of America #45

Several heroes go berserk and attack others or civilians. Meanwhile, the Starheart has taken over Obsidian and Green Lantern Alan Scott and it’s up to the Justice League and the Justice Society to stop him. But will Scott’s daughter, Jade stand in the way?
The pace of this issue is fast. There’s a lot happening and it seems that following years of decompressed comic book storytelling, I’ve forgotten how a comic book used to read. There’s a lot happening here, and while I could complain about the amount of story in this issue, I would be better to just tag along for the ride. I like how Batman – Dick Grayson is still the best field tactician in the DC Comics universe. He’s really the one calling the shots on attacks and that’s an extension of his years with the Titans. All the characters in this issue seem to be characterized correctly and that’s a good thing.
I really like Bagley’s work but Hunter may not be the best inker for him. The work looks rush and like something from an Image comic book. There’s a lot happening in that comic book and Bagley is up for the challenge which is good. So maybe the inking did not please me very much, but it’s still an exciting comic book unlike much of what the Justice League has been about in the past. I’m willing to give this fast paced League a go.
