Wonder Woman makes her way to the pack of Shadow Demons t attacking Flash, Superman, Batman and Green Lantern and proves that she is an incredible warrior. Aquaman makes a surprised entrance and takes over the team right away. Will the other let me get his way?
I really like how the early days of the Justice League is introduced in this series. My only regret will be that Cyborg replaces the Martian Manhunter. We already see how he will get his powers in this issue but there is nothing about him that fits in with the other characters, unless Johns is trying to rewrite the old Super Powers cartoon series where Cyborg was inducted as Super Friend instead of the as a Teen Titan. I like how Superman just dishes out more pain than the other guys. He really is that much more powerful and I glad this is easily captured here. This is not something that’s usually done in team books. Every character gets a chance to shine, no matter how stupid their powers are. The most powerful characters end up looking weaker. Johns knows how to balance this and it works.
Jim Lee’s work is messy this issue. There’s a too much happening all at once and several reading are needed to capture all he’s put in. I’d suggest he cleans up and simplifies a bit. But then, his fans rally like his messy pages and that may not please them. But I read Justice League because I like the Justice League, not because of Jim Lee.
