From day one, ComicBookBin featured action figures. That’s why it’s no surprise that some of the early ComicBookBin writers were themselves action figure collectors and action figure reviewers. Heli88 is a passionate toy collector I met way back when over at TheFwoosh.com. Back then the site had another name and was mostly a forum for action figure collectors. Heli88 posted a few reviews of some action figures following the infamous action figure review template I had created.

His reviews were detailed but unlike me, he really spoke like a fan passionate about the material he reviewed. Back then I was always aiming for the professional and authoritative journalistic voice, instead of letting my passion sip through my articles. Heli88 didn’t care for that then, and neither does he today. He’s still an action figure collector, although he has a family. He used to live in North Carolina and early on was a big supporter of Marvel Legends action figures.

What I like about ComicBookBin is that it has made me meet so many real fans. Reviewing action figures is a bit more difficult than reviewing a comic book because there is so much jargon involved. What to the uninitiated looks like a perfectly well designed toy to a collector like Heli88 or me, could be a major mess. Heli88 was enthusiastic about the toys he reviewed. With only three articles published in January 2004, he is no longer part of ComicBookBin but he continues to act as a moderator on TheFwoosh.com
