Harley and Ivy Meet Betty & Veronica #4
By Paul Mason
January 2, 2018 - 22:44
This issue is only a page or two longer than the average book, yet is seems super-sized because so much happens in this book. It opens where the last comic left off with Reggie disguised as the Joker while Betty and Veronica trapped in Ivy and Harley's bodies are confronted by some d-list villains.
Meanwhile the Blossoms Cheryl and Jason are seeking revenge on Betty and Veronica.
The whole Freaky Friday body swap is still fresh as it is hard to imagine Betty and Veronica in Batman villainess bodies. Could they have even exploited this humour even more? Probably. But the tone is consistent of an Archie comic with echoes of Harley Quinn. In fact sadly this seems more tightly plotted and well told as a story than a lot of regular series titles.
The art is superb and there are some really lush panels. It is a softer style than some comics but it suits the book and looks gorgeous.
