Review: Harley Quinn #31

Harley’s mayoral bid is over before it’s barely begun. Blackmailed out of the race, she has few options, and fewer still when her main squeeze Mason Macabre comes up missing. Kidnapped by the henchmen of incumbent Mayor DePerto, he’s being held as insurance against any future retaliation.

But fortunately, Harley has a whole cadre of cronies working for her, and is able to track down Mason’s whereabouts. Oddly enough, she chooses to leave some of her closest allies behind, while taking the near-homicidal Harley Sinn with her. Well, it makes sense, doesn’t it? If you’re going up against a monster, you want a monster of your own on your side. But will they arrive in time?

This storyline in the latest issue of Harley Quinn has just about run its course. I anticipate it will come to a close next issue, and that’s fine by me. It was fun at first, but like many stories I think it’s time to wrap things up.

John Timms artwork is perfect, as always. It’s a charming constant in an industry where most artists usually only run for a year or slightly more. Maybe it’s only been slightly more than a year, but it’s so comfortable, it seems much longer. I’m good with that.
