The
GL Corps has been challenged by the Darkstars as the supreme law and order in
the known universe. One might think the GLs would appreciate the help, but the
Darkstars are little more than executioners, so there’s a significant
difference of philosophies here. And too many people are inclined to side with
the Darkstars.
Through sheer force of numbers, the Darkstars have the Lanterns over-powered. So if the GL Corps is going to win this conflict, they’re going to need some help – the craftier, the better. Corps leader John Stewart is thinking outside the box on this one, sending the other three Terran Lanterns in search of allies.
Brandon Peterson takes on the art chores for this issue, and it’s far better than I recall it being in previous issues. He’s added texture and nuances that elevate the artwork above what I’ve seen before, as if there has been a major evolution in his work. More, please.
As for the Darkstar saga, I thought it had begun a few issues ago, and was well underway, so I don’t understand how this is “Darkstars Rising, Chapter 1.” Unless there are chapters within volumes. But it sounds like we’re in for a long haul for a while. Given the powers that are being assembled in this issue, I’m not sure I mind so much.
