The
Controllers have brought the Darkstars back, but who’s controlling who. That’s
what the Green Lantern Corps is determined to learn, cuz MAN! There are a lot
of them – perhaps more than the Corps can handle. Among the Darkstars
recruits –their chosen spokesman – is Tomar Tu, former Green Lantern who used
unnecessary lethal force. Thus he was chosen for inclusion among the Darkstars.
While he makes a passionate plea for their position, Hal and the others aren’t
buying it just yet.
But with their forces so heavily outnumbered, the GLs must consider allies. I think I know where this may be headed, but I’ll withhold speaking it for the time being. Future issues will tell me if I’m right, and I can afford to be patient. Oddly, they haven’t sought the help of the two GLS on Earth, Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz.
As I predicted, Ethan Van Sciver was unable to stick around for more than a single issue. Rafa Sandoval and Jordi Tarragona are back at the drawing board. I’d hoped Van Sciver was good for a few issues, but I didn’t expect him to leave after just one. He may have good reason, but to the fans, it’s a bit of a tease, and rather disappointing when it happens.
This may be one of those epic storylines Green Lantern fans will be talking about for a while. I feel it has that potential, so I’ll be very disappointed if all this effort is wasted, and when it’s over it’s back to business as usual. Perhaps I’m setting myself up for disappointment, but somehow I don’t believe so.
