Zod occupies a planet in a distant space sector, dominating the primitive inhabitants and enslaving them en masse. Hal and Kyle have been sent to investigate, but faced with three super-powered Kryptonians, even their rings are hard-pressed to keep them alive. And when Zod claims their rings for analysis, they’re little more than pawns for the powerful despot.

Or are they? Hal has a little known secret that will give the GLs an edge, and maybe ensure their survival.

But here is where the chapter ends, with much dialogue and exposition, but little advancement of narrative. Having read Action Comics, I have little hope things will work out for the best for our heroes.

It’s nice to see Ethan Van Sciver back at the drawing board. While he’s cemented his place within the Green Lantern lore, it’s rare to see him draw more than an occasional issue here or there. Perhaps he needed a mortgage payment this month.

Rating: 6/10
