Grimm Fairy Tales' Unleashed #1 Review
By Andy Frisk
April 16, 2013 - 22:11
A creature of immense power, using the soul of a slain member of the Greek Pantheon of gods, unleashes hordes of demons, vampires, zombies, and werewolves upon the Earth. The first line of defense doesn't fair so well, so the burden of saving the world looks to once again fall upon the comely shoulders of Sela Mathers. She is going to need help though, and she gets it from some very unlikely sources...
The opening salvo of Zenescope Entertainment's summer crossover event is a pure, unadulterated blast of a fun horror/dark fantasy read. Not only does it set up the oncoming conflict between the heroes, villains, and diabolical denizens of the Grimm Fairy Tale Universe, it delivers several shocking twists and introduces (and in some cases re-introduces) some powerful new characters. They are characters that Sela (the Grimm Fairy Tale's U main hero) will find herself working side by side with (at times surprisingly) to stop The Being (the creature of unspeakable power unleashing all the havoc) from remaking the world we know and love in his own twisted image.
A perfect, and smart, way to introduce legions of legendary horror icons (vampires, zombies, werewolves, demons, etc) into the main fabric of the Grimm Fairy Tale's U,
Unleashed looks to be the must read of the summer for horror/dark fantasy fans, as well as for fans of well written comic books that showcase strong female characters. This one has me hooked...
