Jessica Cruz has come a long way since she first inherited the Earth 3 power ring. Originally the weapon of a super-villain, it has been turned to a force for good, but like any weapon, it’s only as powerful as the person who wields it. And Jessica’s insecurities don’t exactly make her the ideal candidate for what some call the most powerful weapon in the universe.

Several issues back, Simon and Jessica encountered interstellar lawyer scumbag Singularity Jain. Now she’s back, and preying on Jessica’s weaknesses like any attorney would, Meanwhile, Simon is trying to free Jain’s latest would-be client from her clutches.

In Tim Seeleys’ hands, Green Lanterns has developed two strong characters, with room for more in the franchise. It’s entirely possible some day Simon and Jessica may be replaced by others, established or otherwise. But I’m in no hurry to see that happen. I think there is much more to say about either of these Lanterns.

Ronan Cliquet’s return to art chores is a always welcome. He’s become as much a part of the GL franchise as Gil Kane, Joe Staton or Ethan Van Sciver. Seeley, Cliquet, Simon and Jessica – a winning combination.

Rating: 8/10
