Green Arrow #31

Green Arrow has gone rogue after the destruction of Star City by Prometheus and the Justice League is trying to capture him. But Green Arrow is hunting the Electrocutioner, the right hand man of the Prometheus. Will Green Arrow turn into a pure vigilante now that he has killed several villains? Will he also Kill the Electrocutioner?
This storyline that emerged out of the wreck of the Justice League Cry For Justice series has potential to redefine Green Arrow. As it stands Green Arrow is still but a poor Batman clone. How discusses the corrupted police commissioner reminds me of how Batman also has a commissioner as a supporting character, albeit less corrupted. Green Arrow, in this story seems to be defined solely by his City Star City. The problem here is that besides the destruction of the city, there isn’t much to Star City. I really could not tell what the difference with Coast City – another destroyed DC Comics city is. For this story to work, it will have to move past the cliché of Green Arrow being an hunter and a rebel. We read his thoughts, we see his moves, but he remains a hollow character much empty compared to how he was written by Kevin Smith or Brad Meltzer. Another cliché is the line up of characters ready to blame Green Arrow for something or another. It’s been done so many times with the character that it’s not a novel idea anymore.
I’d like to see Green Arrow move into a territory similar to Daredevil for Marvel Comics. He’s the edgy character on the block. But it seems to me that although I really like her- she’s my favourite female character after all, Black Canary is superfluous to Green Arrow’s world. The concept of the Green Arrow clan needs, in my opinion to be ditched and remove extra useless characters such as Connor Hawke and Speedy. They can continue to function but outside of Green Arrow’s world. It seems that this is where this series is going, but I’m afraid it will not go far enough as Green Arrow was once a matured series that really redefined the character for a generation. What I read here is but a shallow version of the great character.
Dallocchio is a great artist but his inked lines are too thin in several instances. He would benefit from a more present inked line. His characters look weird in some places. He tends to draw women with gigantic opened mouth that look silly.
