Alien invaders are recruiting human thugs to do their dirty work. So the unusual team of Green Lantern and Plastic Man must join forces to defeat this threat.

This one-shot special looks a lot like something that was contracted for BRAVE AND THE BOLD but is now being thrown out there just to clear out old inventory. The concept behind the story is solid and should have worked with Green Lantern handling the outer space aspect while Plastic Man handles the street thugs.

But in execution, the story just falls flat. Hal Jordan is depicted as a stiff-necked, stuffed shirt who dislikes Plastic Man from the start while Plastic Man comes off as a total buffoon. The reasons why the aliens would need local thugs are never clearly explained. Even the parts of the story that should be comedic or inspiring (like the funny appearance of the aliens or the criminals turning against the invaders) just don't work.

The art is no treat either. It makes both Green Lantern and Plastic Man look like they are in their 50s and uses unimaginative lay-outs, over and over again. The artist for this book has done much better work elsewhere. But here, it looks like he wasn't even trying. Perhaps you could say that for the entire comic.
