Fisher, a comic strip published exclusively since at The Globe and Mail, a major Canadian newspaper has ended today September 8, 2012. Fisher’s creator, Philip Street explains in his blog why Fisher was dropped. “I heard from the paper on August 10 that, due to a reshuffling of the arts and life sections, the comics page would be dropped. Ultimately the paper (I am told) decided to keep a smaller comics section... but not "Fisher" (or Graham Harrop's "Back Bench", the other comic that was exclusive to the Globe).”

When it started Fisher was about a 20 something generation X writer out of work trying to make it in the big city. The strip caught on a fan following early on because it mirrored the lives of many people from that generation. Over the years, Fisher changed as he got married and had kids, but the main focus of the strip was always to show the lives of Generation X. Street mentions that a collected edition of Fisher will be available in the fall of 2012 for fans who want to see collect the strip, although archives of his work are available at PhilipStreet.com

ComicBookBin interviewed Street about Fisher five years ago. We wish Philip Street and Fisher the best of luck.
