Batman, Batwoman, Nightwing and their allies are trying to stop monsters from infecting the citizens of Gotham but their effort might be thwarted by one their own. Stephanie, the Gotham Girl wants revenge for the fear in stilled in her by Hugo Strange and the Psycho-Pirate. But fighting one’s fears for Gotham Girl means destroying and making more damage.
I like Gotham Girl’s characterization here. Orlando continues the twisted characterization that she was given in the Batman comic, even though this crossover is mostly a side story in all of the Batman books. As for Batwoman, she seems to be the only one capable of talking down to Batman. I love it! This book did allow every cast member to shine. Even Orphan who doesn’t say much, solves the case and inspires Spoiler to find a cure for the heroes.
A stronger inker is needed to enhance Andy MacDonald’s artwork. At point, his ink coverage work. At others, it is too light and gives a Vertigo Comics feel to his work. Although dealing with monsters, the Vertigo look should not be what this series aims for. He can draw gory stuff, although not as well as Ryan Ottley or Howard Porter.
