Cyborg
continues his adventure in the digital alternate reality, in which his evil
doppleganger commands an army of mech-zombies, and Victor’s pal Exxy has fallen
victim to the virus. But to his credit, Cyborg has a secret weapon at his
command; something of a dues ex machine, maybe, but I’m inclined to go with it
for however long it lasts.
Overall, this has been an ambitious storyline for the series, and seems more cohesive than those past. I hope this trend continues. My big complaint this issue is the dialogue. There’s villainy, and there’s cartoon super-villainy. Consider Anomaly’s ultimatum to the digital Cyborg:
“I demand mega-battle, on my turf, tomorrow morning! The winner takes the planet! If you refuse… Scarlett Taylor dies again! Are you ready for…CYBER-GEDDON?”
I feel like I should be wearing footy pajamas eating Count Chocula in front of the TV on a Saturday morning. But there is a lot of camp in comic books, usually intentional. Somehow, in this case, I attribute it to too many bad movies. Not that that’s a bad thing, really – until it infects one’s writing style.
