Chastity #1

This new Chastity series updates the older one from Chaos Comics. Still set in the 1980s, the vampire who gives Chastity her power is a novelist like Ann Rice. She lures the young Chastity and then bites her. Then she kills her entire family. This series echoes some of success of Twilight and True Blood. But is this series good?
I like the opening from Marc Andreyko making Chastity a broken teenager with a controlling mom. But as soon as he introduced the vampire elements to his story, it lost all credibility. Of course, he ends the story in a cliffhanger and we do not know exactly how Chastity will survive the next issue. She is dead by the last page. Was such a revamp totally needed? Couldn’t the older series continue?
My problem with this comic is the art by Dave Acosta. It’s not bad, but it’s not competent. Chastity is not the most popular comic book character. Chaos Comics is a small publisher Chastity. The Acosta needs an inker to equalize his work. I grow tired of comic book publishers who cut corners by taking unpolished pencils straight to colouring. Inking improves comic book art.
