The rogue Captain America from the 1950s that has been reactivated has allied himself with a white supremacist and fascist group who attacked the local authorities. It’s up to the new Captain America and the Falcon to infiltrate this group and take them down. But will the Captain America from the 1950s prove more difficult to stop than expected?
This storyline mainly cleans up a dead end plot that was introduced when the original Captain America was away. The one from the 1950s was used because his face was surgically changed to copy that of the original Captain. So because this evil doppelganger continue to exist, a new story has to be written to take him out. I hope they simply eliminate him completely or change his identity. I like US Agent, but in my book he’s the only crazy and super patriotic Captain America cipher I can tolerate. The story is good enough to use a good ruse with the Falcon being the bait to attract the fascists.
Ross and Guice are great artists as usual, but the colouring was simplified compared to what has been depicted in the series. The almost sense of tension brought by the colours that contributed the thriller feel are gone, replaced with regular comic book colouring. It’s not bad, but less inspiring.
