A lot is revealed this issue with Martian Mahnunter figuring out who has been murdering people and Mera revealing to Aquaman who she really is and where she came from. Will Mera and Aquaman split over years of lies and will the Martian Manhunter save the last friendly Martian alive?
This issue was one of the better ones with several revelations about the mystery of characters return from the dead. I like that there’s another green Martian around and I’m impressed with the speed with which the Martian Manhunter can locate the threat. I’m also intrigued by the history of Mera’s world and find that for once I don’t mind having Geoff Johns trying to make sense of everything and putting links all over the place. It makes sense that Mera’s dimension is actually on Earth but hidden from the rest of the world. That’s the way of explaining Black Manta and make him an even more redoubtable villain for Aquaman. This issue had the right mix of explanations before readers got bored of the mysteries without answer.
Visually, this book continues to rock although several different artistic teams are involved. But parts tend to get gory, so readers beware.
