Brightest Day #4

Deadman meets heroes Hawk and Dove who want him to revive the first Dove. Will he do it now that he has the power of the White Lantern? Elsewhere so escapes from another dimension are wrecking havoc in the Bermuda Triangle. Are they related to Mera, wife of Aquaman? Hawkgirl and Hawkman are crossing dimensions to stop Hath-Seth, the enemy that has killed them in every past life. Will this be the fight that stops the villain for good and break his curse?

This is another pleasant issue of Brightest Day with more questions being asked than answers. I’m hoping the lady leading an army appearing in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle is from Mera’s dimension and that we will finally get some answers about what kind of world she comes from. The woman looks a lot like Mera, except for her purple eyes. Purple eyes are related to the deceased Aquaman former sidekick Tempest. The invaders also wielded water weapons similar to how Mera creates water constructs. I’m hooked. I know it’s geeky, but I am. I love stuff like that, although I know by the time Johns is through with it will all make sense. He’s obsessed with explaining everything about the DC Comics universe. I like the pages with Ronnie Raymond very much. He’s one hell of a wrecked kid.

The artwork continues to be pleasant. The place Hawkgirl and Hawkman visit reminds me of a cheaper Avatar world. Let’s hope the artist can make that story look more visually interesting in future issues. I do like how he draws Hawkgirl and Hawkman though. They look great. The pages with Deadman were the strongest of all and that may help make the character popular again.
