Batman Beyond #16

Spellbinder controls Terry McGinnis, the Batman of the future who is about to kill time stranded Tim Drake, former Robin. With Commissioner Gordon also under the control of Spellbinder, can Tim Drake, the current Batman escape his death at the end of Terry McGinnis?
This is the last issue of the current Batman Beyond series and it felt almost like a filler that had to quickly end the current volume of the series in anticipation of the next one that is about to start in a few days. The scene with the hero almost dead and under the trope of the brainwashed ally is so common that it did not create any emotions in me. The convenient rescue orchestrated by Matt McGinnis felt like Dan Jurgens was using a classic rules book on how to write super hero comics.
This series has to end. It will now fit in with the rest of the DC Comics universe closely. Spellbinder’s defeat was rushed and the conclusion of the story was designed to lead the reader to the future of Tim Drake and Rebirth. I did not enjoy the art by Stephen Thompson. It felt like a bad version of Barry Kitson with badly telegraphed action scenes. In the fight scene, it felt like the characters were floating in the air performing ballet and not connecting with one another with their fists. Also, white characters looked Asian for some reason.
