Bane Conquest #7

Bane’s attempt to kill Kobra’s Naja-Naja fails but the reincarnated leader of the cult still dies by mistake. Kobra, Bane and many others are now looking for the reincarnated baby born at the exact moment the guru died. Can Bane get the baby before Kobra?
This is a Chuck Dixon story drawn by Graham Nolan. It’s hard to get a comic more retro and pulpier than this one. Nolan delivers on the action with a fast-paced layout and characters with gross cartoon proportions and contortions that will challenge the best Jack Kirby action pages. Comics don’t have this kind of energy anymore.
The story is quick and little time is spent explaining transitions or events leading up to the tracking of the baby. Dixon avoids slowing down his story. I would argue that this comic has an adventure comic strip feel because of the talents involved. I kind of miss such comics sometimes and although I am not a fan of Bane, this comic is a good throwback to an earlier age while still being contemporary in its themes and tropes.
