In the second of a four part mini-series, Atomic Robo goes on a goodwill mission to see Science Team Super Go, the Japanese equivalents of Tesladyne and finds his business trip turns into something a lot more energetic!
Looking to call in a favour he goes to visit Dr. Yumeno and some of his team. Judging by their projects they are seriously brainy. While being introduced a situation arises for the as yet untried, but rigorously trained team to go into action. Atomic Robo stays behind with the good Dr despite his initial misgivings. The situation soon escalates and Atomic Robo is soon offering to lend a hand, fist, photocopier and anything else he can lay his hands on!
The artwork in this issue is very accomplished and flows well. There is a good mix of panels that I didn't fully notice until I went back and read through a second time. You get a very good idea of scale. It is subtly introduced and increased to very good effect. The headquarters of Science Team Super Go must dwarf Four Freedoms Plaza!
I liked this issue. I won't lie, I'm a fan of these series. They are bright, inventive and most of all, fun. They are very well drawn and excellently written. Each issue is well worth revisiting, because there is always something that will have been missed the first time around.
Atomic Robo and the Revenge of the Vampire Dimension is a rattling good good, that zips along at a great pace and delivers, wit ('Take the company car'), surprises and more than a few pop -cultural references with verve and charm. But don't just take my word for it, pick up a copy from your local supplier. You won't regret it.
