Update: As is now being reported at Deadline, it appears that Fox is refuting the idea that they are giving up Galactus and the Fantastic Four for Daredevil. Fox is apparently excited about their plans for a Fantastic Four reboot, but will most likely allow Daredevil to default back to Marvel Studios. Fox loses Daredevil if they don't have a film in production by Oct. 10th of this year, and with no director attached (even though Carnahan did pitch a reboot idea) it looks like Daredevil could end up joining Marvel's The Avengers on screen universe instead.

As reported at comicbookresources.com via Variety, Marvel Studios might be acquiring the rights to the Fantastic Four franchise in exchange for an extension on the rights for another Marvel Comics' property, Daredevil with 20th Century Fox. Currently, both Daredevil and the Fantastic Four cast of characters film rights (which includes Galactus and the Silver Surfer) are owned by 20th Century Fox, but the time frame for Fox to get a new Daredevil film off the ground is rapidly approaching and there's been little movement from Fox. If a new Daredevil film isn't in production by October 10th of this year, the rights to the property look to revert to Marvel Studios. Fox is reportedly in talks with director Joe Carnahan (The Grey, The A-Team) to direct a Daredevil reboot that would be "a Frank Miller-esque, '70s thriller" type of film, and by giving up the rights to the FF, along with Galactus and The Silver Surfer, to Marvel Studios, 20 Century Fox will get more time to make the Daredevil film.

So how cool would it be if Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben, along with Galactus and The Silver Surfer could show up in a future Marvel's The Avengers sequel? How cool would it be for a Fantastic Four film to be able to link up with Marvel Studios' on screen superhero universe? Imagine Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, AND Reed Richards working together in same on screen lab. Also though, imagine a top quality and dark and gritty Daredevil film hitting the silver screen? Wow, either way this situation shakes out, it looks like Marvel Comics' fans will be the winners. I my opinion, I hope this works out. I'd line up for all the potential films involved, and I suspect that millions of other Mighty Marvel fans would too!
