Superman’s time-hopping adventures with Booster Gold continue, as they escape the destruction of Krypton via Booster’s time bubble. Unfortunately, Superman’s question remains unanswered: Did Jor-El somehow escape Krypton as well?

The bubble is damaged, and an Eradicator is on their tail, and together they drop out of the time stream. I could tell you when, but that would spoil the narrative. Separated from one another, there’s a chance Superman and Booster could be stranded in this time period, but fortunately, the Man of Steel isn’t above a little larceny in the interest of the greater good.

The story has a few conveniences which I don’t appreciate, and offers many parallels: Superman’s relationship with his father, mirrored against Booster’s relationship with his, while Lois goes on a search/rescue mission to save her dad. When you throw little Jon Kent into the mix, it’s like a Father’s Day card to acknowledge all the parent/child dynamics.

Artists Brett Booth and Norm Rapmund make a great team. The art reminded me somewhat of Jim Lee’s work, but not so much so as to appear an imitation.

Action Comics #1,000 is only a few issues away. It’s the most exciting countdown I’ve seen in days.

Rating: 8/10
